Update
Forgot to mention that the horrible moves at the end of the game vs sixkiller were due to time shortage.
-----------
I have been pretty busy lately with the holidays and all. I have not been studying my tactical problems as much as I would like but still am spending a fair amount of time on my chess studies. I have also been hanging out some with a new chess buddy, Matthew Bennett. We have been playing some correspondence games and I am undefeated so far 3-0. In shorter games we are about even in wins. I like correspondence because I have all the time in the world to consider tactics and strategy. Amazing how you can still miss things though. If anyone else wants to play some let me know. I played a G45 4 round swiss tournament and lost 3 of my 4 games. I should have won 2 but blundered trying not to get behind in time and got checkmated. I need to learn how to apply my chess knowledge in less time.
In one of the knights tourneys I played CelticDeath (game/new window) I thought I played well till I evaluated my game with Crafty. I had been playing too aggressively and decided to work on playing a safer game. I won a piece early on then missed several mates in 1 trying to regroup my pieces as Silman says you are supposed to do when you gain an advantage. Just goes to show there are no absolute rules in chess.
So far I am 0-2 for this 45 45 tourney. In my first game(new window) vs twinders I played pretty well considering he totally dismantled me the last time we played. I had a drawn position but could not figure out how to get it with the time left on my clock. Roman showed me how to convert a bishop's pawn to a rook pawn to get the draw. In my second game(new window) I played ok, taking too long on a couple moves where it would have been more advantageous to just make a decision. I took a long time deciding on what side to castle and could really have used that time later in the game. I missed a subtle tactical strike also 33... Bxc5.
I have also finished my level 40 problems some time ago but haven't had time to blog about it. I am currently working the level 20 problems a second time and plan to start my 7 circles for real when I finish those.

Where are you playing correspondence games? If its at chessworld.net I'll challenge you, Qxh7# plays at redhotpawn.com

Here's one server on which i can be challenged;
Net-Chess.
It is a turn-based chess server (or correspondence as ya'll like to call it) on which you can set time controls up to a maximum of 30 days to move + 2 days incremental time on each move.
Visit it and see if you like it. If you want to have a view of what the board (or in-play) looks like, visit the link "View High Games" under "Play". That should give you an impression.
I will list a few servers on my blog on which you or any other Knight can challenge me.

Oh and if you do visit and want to challenge me, take a look under "Chat". And visit the "Contact A Player" link. From there you can drop me a message. I am registered there as 'dutchdefence'.

I have just been playing by email. Make your moves in a pgn editor then email them to my opponent. I'll try to check out some of the sites posted and see if I can get some other games going.

Then you'll probably like to play turn-based very much. Most of the people i know who like to play slow games are all very much into turn-based chess. It is somewhat similar even. The biggest difference is that it's server based and you forward (or send) your moves by inputting them on the board. Your opponent will be notified of the move you made by email (ofcourse if he/she has chosen to). You'll also get to choose a timelimit. The timelimits differ from server to server. At Net-Chess (as i mentioned) you can set a maximum timelimit of 30 + 2 days. I favour the 30 + 2 days limit myself. The main reason i choose for such an "extreme" timelimit is for eventual Internet crashes or whatever. I usually play a lot faster. But i choose it just in case, you know? ChessWorld.net is also a very good server (very limited use to non-paying members). I am registered there as "Edwin Meyer" but at the moment inactive. I dislike redhotpawn.com because of the boardview. It is very ugly (when you're a non-paying member) and surrounded by annoying ads. But it's your choice. I will add some (in my opinion) non-paying member friendly servers where i can be challenged (by Knights) on my blog in the sidebar. You're welcome to check it out. But Net-Chess is one of them.

Fritz have you an ! mark on your move 6, so you did play that part well. True, you could have finished me off sooner, but a win is a win.

I didn't see you mention it in your blog,so I figure I's mention it. In your game with Celtic Death 9.q-e6 is checkmate.
As for the bishop xf7 check,I would take that trade anyday.
